End of Cruise but still the Caribbean

After the Cruise we landed in Barbados and had a nice day with Liz’s sister and husband. We celebrated the end of a great holiday with dinner watching the sun go down over the ocean. We absolutely fell in love with Cruising after the 6 days cruising through the southern Caribbean Islands.

St Thomas

The taxi driver, Jay, took us to the most beautiful beach I have ever seen – Lindquist Beach – total paradise… And told us about his planned trip to Wales to visit a girl he has met …, hope he doesn’t get too much of a shock!

In the Rain Forest near San Juan, Puerto Rico

The green island of Puerto Rico – from San Juan, where our ship arrived, led us to the famous El Yunque rain forest. The taxi driver tended to all our needs – including fresh mangos from the trees.

With personal hats 🙂

And amazing views …

St Maarten

St Maarten or St Martin, depending if you are on the Dutch or French side, is definitely posher but it still rains :-). Our nice taxi driver, Virgin Mary, took us to Dawn Beach where the guys snorkeled between showers :-). Mary fancied Reiner because of his ‘Golden Belly’ which caused us a lot of amusement! And I couldn’t resist doing a Kate Winslet in the evening :-).

Chilling 🙂

St Kitts

Slightly disappointing after glorious St Lucia – the beaches are a bit tacky and the boys were disappointed with the snorkeling. But we watched a monkey looking for food and experienced a Caribbean downpour:-). Cruise elegant was the dress code for the evening so we dressed up in our finery and decided the Caribbean air shrinks your clothes :-).

First port of call – St Lucia

How wonderful to wake up as the ship was approaching this beautiful island. By the time we had finished our early morning stretching class, we had docked and were ready to explore. But of course we first had to enjoy the amazing breakfast buffet … A local taxi driver showed us the sights and took us to Pigeon Island where we found a secluded snorkeling beach – the men were happy!! The day was not over … In the evening it was showtime and dancing … , what a life!!

Setting sail

What an experience boarding this ship with its very elaborate decor. There is every kind of attraction you can possibly imagine – from bingo to karaoke and big bands … And all the food! They say the average person puts on 5lb on a week’s cruise …, I can believe it!

Lovely welcome!

Really like the Titanic!

Soon we are ‘Liberty’

Great stop in Bridgetown before we ‘migrate’ to the States – actually we will check in on an American cruise ship called Liberty. But before we had to enjoy the Barbadian sea with the turtles. It is interesting to see the hummingbirds just in front of our balcony. Will miss probably the tree frogs crying all night 😂

Infinity on the beach

Nice breakfast with beautiful ocean view, international here but no Germans around 😂 (that was Reiner). Managed to sleep until 05:30 so hopefully jet lag not too bad! It was wonderful to arrive last night and jump straight into the hotel pool 🏊.
