Dragon fruit for breakfast in Crown Plaza hotel in Singapore

The last night of our great holiday we spent in this posh hotel near the airport – business people know it I assume. Before we had flown 3 times in one day. First from Mackay to Brisbane, took then the connecting flight to Sydney and later the long haul to Singapore.
There, what a great suite we had, just impressive. But how a woman in Sydney Airport said to me after I wanted to use a bag trolley for free: First pay and then use it, they want money from you. I had to say, ok, sure, they want always the best from you 😉
After a lovely breakfast this morning (Singapore time – 19 April 2013) our addiction to activity came back. Liz appreciates always a nice swim in the pool, which we had. Now, its time to say Good Bye and we are looking forward to our lovely home.

Sightseeing in Singapore

My God – it’s hot here! Taxis are a must but the first one took us on a tourist detour to a jewellery store and suddenly stopped being friendly when we didn’t buy anything! Then it was up the Sky Park at Marine Bay Sands and its very impressive views. We went on to taste a bit of British colonialism at Raffles Hotel but unfortunately couldn’t eat there as Reiner wasn’t wearing trousers 🙁
Highlight: yummy Chinese lunch at Boat Quay

Arrived in Singapore

Well finally we were packed and left a very cold Germany on Thursday evening. In fact it was snowing as our plane took off. The flight attendants on Singapore Airlines are beautiful and very friendly. But what a long flight!!!! I can see why passengers upgrade to business class … We got off the plane in Singapore to a blast of heat and very humid air, what a difference to Frankfurt! We can see why Singapore Airport has been voted the best airport in the world for the past 25 years – it really is attractive and very, very clean. We took the train to Singapore City Centre and found the hotel with the help of some friendly locals. And WOW!!! To swim outside in a warm pool at 33°C after freezing Frankfurt is just paradise, now topped by Singapore Slings at the edge of the pool …
Highlight: being greeted by a crowd of Singapore children who cheered loudly when we waved at arrivals!
